Can I pay by card?

To find out if you can pay by card – and how much you can send – choose the country your WorldRemit account is registered in.

What card types does WorldRemit accept?

We accept most types of debit, credit and pre-paid cards issued by Visa or Mastercard.

We do not accept cards from:

  • Amex

  • Diner’s Card

  • Union Pay

Why was my card declined?

WorldRemit won’t know why a card payment was declined.

Contact your card issuer’s payments or authorisation department for more information.

Are there any extra fees for paying by card?

Debit cards

There are usually no extra fees other than those stated at the time you make payment.

However, if your card is issued in a country other than the one registered on your WorldRemit account (for example, using a US card when your account is based in the UK), your card issuer may charge a foreign exchange fee. That fee is not charged by WorldRemit.

Credit cards

Some credit card issuers may charge a cash transfer fee. This fee not charged by WorldRemit.

Can I pay using someone else’s card?

No. The money you transfer must come from your own card.

How long does a card refund take?

Once cancellation has been confirmed, a refund will be credited within 7 working days.

However, this may be different if you are using a pre-paid card. Contact your card issuer or check their terms and conditions.

Send money using bank account transfer

What is a bank account transfer?

A bank account transfer is an electronic payment which sends money directly from one bank account to another.

How does a bank account transfer work?

  1. Find the bank account details for the country you’re sending from (see ‘Can I pay by bank account transfer in my send country?’)

  2. Instruct your bank to send money directly into that bank account. This is usually done via online banking 

  3. Quote your customer number as a payment reference when sending the funds, e.g. WR1234567 

We must receive the funds no more than 24 hours after the transaction was placed.

Can I pay by bank account transfer from the country I’m registered in?

We accept bank transfers from these countries/regions:

Why was my bank account transfer declined?

WorldRemit won’t know why a bank transfer was declined.

Contact your bank’s payments or authorisation department if your bank transfer is declined, .

Are there any extra fees for paying by bank account transfer?

The total you must pay WorldRemit is detailed in full when you create a transaction.

However, your bank usually charges you you to make bank transfer payments. This amount of this charge depends on the bank - it’s not charged by WorldRemit.

Can I pay using someone else’s bank account transfer?

No. The money you transfer must come from your own bank account.

WorldRemit is a financially regulated company – this means we need to ensure we know the identity of our customers and the source of the funds they pay with.

We can sometimes accept payments from business accounts, but we need to see official proof that you have authority to make payments from these accounts. If this is the case, we will contact you by email or phone. 

How long does a bank account transfer refund take?

Once cancellation has been confirmed, a refund will usually be credited within 2- 6 working days. Your bank may take longer - check with them.

To cancel a transaction you have made, contact WorldRemit as soon as possible. After a transaction is paid out we may not be able to recall it.To cancel a bank transfer transaction from anywhere other than the UK we need to see a bank statement to confirm your account details.

How do I pay for my transfer from a UK bank account?

Use your online banking service to create a transfer from your bank account directly to WorldRemit’s account. 

You must use WorldRemit customer number as the bank transfer reference. e.g. WR012345 and the payment must be received by midnight.

Send money using POLi payment

What is POLi payment?

POLi payment is an online payment service in Australia and New Zealand that lets users withdraw money directly from their bank account. You don’t need a credit card to use the service and  you don’t need to register, so no information is stored that can be used to access your bank account.

How can I use POLi payment for international money transfers?

To pay for a WorldRemit money transfer:

  1. choose POLi as your payment method when you come to pay

  2. you'll be taken to the POLi payment website to choose your bank

  3. log in to your bank, using your secure online banking credentials

  4. complete the payment directly from your online banking

We’ll get a confirmation telling us that your payment is complete.

Are POLi payments safe?

  • Sensitive information such as user names or passwords is never captured 

  • Regular security reviews ensure they meet all modern security standards

How long does POLi transfer take?

Money transfers with POLi usually go through instantly or in up to 60 seconds, although transfers over $1,000 may take a little longer.

Can I pay by POLi in my country?

You can pay for your WorldRemit money transfer using POLi from Australia and New Zealand.

What if my POLi payment is declined?

WorldRemit won’t know why your POLi payment was declined. Contact your bank’s payments or authorisation department. 

Will I be charged for paying with POLi?

POLi doesn’t charge people to pay with POLi, and they strongly encourage merchants not to charge.  However, your bank may charge you to make POLi payments.

Can I pay using someone else’s POLi account?

How long does a POLi refund take?

If you decide to cancel a money transfer made with a POLi payment, your refund should be credited within 2- 4 working days. Your bank may take longer – check with them.

Send money using Interac

What is Interac?

Interac is a payment provider that withdraws money directly from a bank account upon request.

Where can I use Interac to make payments?

Interac is accepted for payments from Canada. Find out more about sending money from Canada.

Why was my Interac payment declined?

WorldRemit won’t know why an Interac payment was declined.

Contact your bank’s payments or authorisation department for more information.

Are there any extra fees for paying by Interac?

The total you must pay WorldRemit is outlined when you create a transaction. However, your bank may charge you to make Interac payments – check with them.

Can I pay using someone else’s Interac account?

No. The money you send must come from your own Interac account.

Send money using iDEAL

iDEAL payments are processed through Trustly, so you may see Trustly as well as iDEAL when selecting how to pay for your transfer.

Where can I use iDEAL to make payments?

Why was my iDEAL payment declined?

WorldRemit isn’t likely to know why an iDEAL payment was declined.

You can either contact your bank’s payments or authorisation department for more information or go directly to iDEAL.

Are there any extra fees for paying by iDEAL?

When paying by iDEAL there are usually no extra fees other than those stated at the time you make payment.

However, your bank may charge for this type of transaction. How much the charge is depends on the bank - it’s not charged by WorldRemit.

Can I pay using someone else’s iDEAL account?

No. The money you transfer must come from your own iDEAL account.

Send money using Klarna (or SOFORT)

What is Klarna? (or SOFORT)?

Klarna (or SOFORT) is an online banking payment service which lets you use e-banking to make quick bank transfers. It can be used by customers with a bank account in Germany, Austria, Belgium and the United Kingdom.

How does Klarna work?

To use Klarna with WorldRemit:

  1. choose Klarna as your payment method when you come to pay - this may appear as SOFORT if you are using the website (they are the same)

  2. you'll be taken to the Klarna Banking website to choose your bank

  3. log in to your bank, using your secure online banking credentials

  4. complete the payment directly from your online banking

We’ll get a confirmation telling us that your payment is complete.

Is Klarna secure?

Yes. A combination of monitoring and verifying transactions, plus a dedicated anti-fraud team, make this a safe online payment method

Can I pay by Klarna in my send country? What countries can I send from using Klarna?

What’s the difference between Klarna and e-wallets like Paypal

With Klarna you don’t have to register or establish a virtual account. Instead you use your usual online banking details and selected authentication procedure. The amount you send as a money transfer goes straight from your online banking account to us.

With e-wallets you have to register and set up a virtual account. You then must load this with a credit in order to buy something.

Send money using Apple Pay

What is Apple Pay?

Apple Pay is a mobile payment and digital wallet service that lets users make payments using an iPhone, Apple Watch, iPad or Mac.

Can I pay by Apple Pay in the country I’m sending from?

We accept Apple Pay payments from several countries:

Send money using Trustly

What is Trustly - online bank transfer?

Trustly lets you make secure online payments directly from your bank account. No sign-up or software installation is required. 

How does Trustly work?

To use Trustly with WorldRemit:

  1. choose Trustly as your payment method when you come to pay

  2. we'll send you to the Trustly Banking website to choose your bank

  3. securely log-in to your bank, using your online banking credentials

  4. complete the payment directly from your online banking

We’ll get a confirmation telling us that your payment is complete.

Is Trustly safe for online bank transfers?

Yes. Trustly uses the same secure encryption as banks. It is a licensed payment institution authorized and supervised by the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority and holdsa European Payment Services Provider (PSP) license in accordance with the Payment Services Directive (PSD, 2007/64/EC).

What countries can I send from use Trustly?

Trustly is only available if you have a bank account in one of these European countries:

  • Denmark

  • Estonia

  • Finland

  • Italy

  • Norway

  • Poland

  • Spain

  • Sweden

How long does a Trustly refund take?

Once the cancellation has been confirmed, a refund will usually be credited to your bank account within 4-6 business days. Your bank may take longer – check with them.

How long does a Trustly transfer take?

It usually takes under 24 hours for a money transfer through Trustly to reachWorldRemit. Your bank may hold the money instead of releasing it straight away which can delay the process. Contact your bank’s authorisation department if this happens.

Send money by ACH

What is a Bank Account (ACH) payment?

When you make a payment to WorldRemit from within the US, you can pay direct from your bank account through the ACH payments network. ACH payments are transferred from one bank account to another without using paper checks, credit card networks, wire transfers or cash.

Where can I use a Bank Account (ACH) payment?

Payments to WorldRemit fromUS bank account are done by ACH transfer. ACH is not available anywhere else in the world. Find out more about sending money from the US.

How does the Bank Account (ACH) payment process work?

Once you have created a transfer:

  1. select a payment method for the transfer to WorldRemit

  2. select ‘Bank Account’ and you will be directed to your bank login to authorise your payment

  3. select the account from which you would like to pay - this will set up a one-time debit from your checking account to ours

  4.  these login details will need to be entered each time you make a payment via ACH

How long does a Bank Account (ACH) transfer take?

Payments sent using ACH take up to 4 working days to reach our account. This means that when you select ‘Bank Account payment’, it will be a slower service. If you send a transfer by ACH, your transaction could be held for up to 4 working days to ensure the funds have been received..

Which banks support ACH payments?

Almost 200 US (?) banks, from Alpine Bank to Zeal Credit Union, support ACH payments.

What should I do if my Bank Account payment is declined?

WorldRemit won’t know why your payment by ACH was declined. If you can, try again using a debit or credit card 

Will I be charged for paying by Bank Account?

The total you must pay WorldRemit is outlined when you create a transaction. However, your bank may charge you to make an ACH payment – check with them.

Can I pay using someone else’s bank account?

No. The money you transfer must come from your own bank account.

How long does an ACH refund take?

If you decide to cancel your transfer which you made using a Bank Account payment, we will refund you as soon as we confirm your cancellation is valid. Depending on your bank, it may take 2-5 working days for the refund to show up in your account.
