How to send mobile money to Uganda
1.Create an account (if you don’t already have one)
Sign up with your email address and choose a strong password. You can use our app on our website to register. If you already have an account, simply log in.
2.Start using our mobile money service
Select Uganda, and choose mobile money as your payout method.
3.Enter your receiver’s details
Enter your receiver’s details, including first and last name, recipient’s city and mobile money account number.
4.Select send amount
Enter the amount you want to send.
5.Pay
You can either pay for your transfer by bank transfer to the WorldRemit account, or by using a debit/credit card for faster delivery.

When will funds be credited to mobile money accounts in Uganda?
MTN Uganda mobile money accounts:
Speed: Instant
Airtel Money mobile money accounts:
Speed: Usually credited within 2-4 hours during local business hours (Monday-Saturday)

How much can I send to mobile money accounts Uganda?
MTN Uganda mobile money accounts:
A maximum of UGX 5,000,000 per transfer
A maximum of UGX 20,000,000 per day
Airtel Money mobile money accounts:
A maximum of UGX 5,000,000 per transfer.

What information do I need from my recipient to send mobile money to Uganda?
Full name. Please enter your recipient’s full name. To avoid any delays, the recipient’s name should match the name registered on their mobile money account.
Address. We need your recipient’s city.
Mobile money account number:
Fully registered and active MTN Uganda, Airtel Money and Warid Pesa mobile money accounts only.
Length: 9 digits in total (excluding country code). Airtel Money numbers begin with 75. Warid Pesa numbers begin with 70.
Contact mobile number. We ask for a contact number in case we need to provide any important updates. This can be different from the mobile money account number.
Sending reason. Please indicate whether it is “family or friend support,” “purchase of services,” “property payment,” or “sending fund to self”.
Please ensure that all your recipient’s details are correct. Once you make your transfer, it is difficult for us to amend or stop the transfer, although we will always try our best to do so.
What fees does my recipient pay in Uganda?
WorldRemit does not charge your recipient any additional fees for the mobile money transfer.
However, some local operators may charge them a fee when they withdraw funds as cash. This depends on the mobile operator’s policy and is not determined by WorldRemit.
Please note that when sending to mobile money accounts in Uganda, there is a 0.5% tax on all mobile money withdrawals imposed by the Ugandan government.
