How to use the WorldRemit app: the ultimate guide

How to send a transfer using the app

Once you’ve signed up and verified your details, you’re ready to send!

Sending a transaction is easy.

First, select who you want to send money to. Input how much you want to send and confirm - you’ll see a little pop up message detailing exactly how much you’ll pay, including fees, and how much your recipient will get. You can also add in a promo code here if you have one.

Once you’ve confirmed, you can choose how you’d like your recipient to get their money. Options include:

  • Cash pickup - 70% of transfers sent via cash pickup are instant

  • Bank transfer - Over 50% of bank deposits are paid within 10 minutes

  • Mobile money - Over 95% of mobile money transfers arrive within minutes*

  • Airtime top up - Airtime top ups are instant

Next, you need to fill in your recipient’s details and once they’re verified, your money is on its way! Both of you will receive an SMS or email notification when the transfer is complete.

Track your transfers

There are few things more frustrating than not knowing where your money is, especially when you’re sending it abroad to someone who needs it. When you send with the WorldRemit app, you can keep an eye on your transfers every step of the way and know exactly where your money is, from when it leaves your account right up until it arrives with your recipient. You can also make amends here, if you need to, including changing payout details or cancelling the transfer.

Transfer history

We keep track of your previous transaction details so you don’t have to. Sending to the same person again? There’s no need to start from scratch, all details are in your transfer history.

If you regularly transfer to the same people, great news! We recently introduced our express checkout so you can repeat transfers at the touch a button.

How to set up real-time exchange rates

Keeping up to date with exchange rates is a really useful way to decide the best time to send.

Setting up notifications is easier and quicker than making a cup of tea. In fact, you could do it all while you’re waiting for the water to boil.

Once you’ve logged into your account using your pin or FaceID, all you need to do is:

  1. Tap on Account in the bottom right hand corner

  2. Go to Settings

  3. Then Notifications

  4. Tap on ‘Add’ next to ‘Exchange Rates’

  5. Select which country you’d like notifications for.

  6. There is no number six - you’re already done! Repeat the above as many times as you want for any country you’d like updates for.

A safe experience

When it comes to money, security is crucial. From verifying your identity and your recipient’s to PIN protecting your app account, we take your security very seriously.

Identity verification is important to make sure your money is going to the correct person. In instances of cash pickup transfers, having an incorrect ID for the recipient may affect their ability to collect the money. You can read more about our identity verification processes and what documents are accepted as valid ID here.

We make sure all connections made through our website and app are encrypted, too. This keeps your data and information as safe as possible.

Payments made by card are safe thanks to 3-D Secure technology - your bank will ask you to enter a verification code that only you will see in order to validate the transaction.

How to manage your account

Here we’ll take you through some of the ways you can manage your WorldRemit account in the app.

Once you tap on Account on the bottom right hand side, you’ll see a menu where you can edit your details, settings and recipient details.

To edit anything in My details, we’ll need to text a verification code to the phone number you’ve provided. Once you’ve entered this code, you can make changes to your email address, phone number, and address.

If you need to make changes to your legal name or date of birth, tap the Help and support option in the Account menu. Go to Update account details and choose the relevant option. Then simply follow the on screen steps to submit your change. Our team will then process your request as soon as possible.

In Settings, you can make changes to your password, PIN, notification preferences, and manage what payment cards you have connected to your account.

Once you’ve downloaded the app from Google Play for Android or the App Store for iOS, it only takes five simple steps to create your account.

  1. Enter your email address and choose a password

  2. Choose a PIN for account security

  3. Enable FaceID or a similar feature on your device if you’d like

  4. Verify your email address

  5. You’re in! You can now start sending money
