What personal information do you need from me?
To set up your account, check your identity and make sure we keep you safe online, we need to collect this information from you:
Your full legal name as it appears on your identification document
Your date of birth
Your residential address (we can’t accept a PO box)
We will also ask you for your Government-issued ID to check your details.
Why do you need to check my identity in Australia?
To comply with Australian law, all of our customers need to have their identity checked before they make their first transfer with us. To check your identity we need to ask you for an official document with details of your address, date of birth, and legal name. For most of our customers we can do this automatically when you set up your account or make your first transfer, but sometimes we need to email you and ask you to send the documents to us.
How do I prove my identity in Australia?
We use online systems to check your identity. Most of our customers can provide their personal details for us to check when they register on our app or our website. We will ask you for ONE of the following to check your identity:
A driver’s licence issued by any Australian state or territory
A passport (Australian or foreign)
An Australian ImmiCard
Your documents must be in date and in your name.
If you are using the app, you will automatically be asked to provide these details when you make your first transfer. Or, if you’d like to, you can provide them ready for your first transfer by clicking on ‘Complete your registration’ in the side menu of your 'My profile’ section on the app.
If you are using the website, you can provide your details by clicking ‘Complete your registration’ in the ‘My Details’ section.
For some customers, we might not be able to check your identity in this way. This can happen if you’re new to the country, or if you've entered your details differently to how they appear on the systems we use to check your identity. If this happens we will email you and ask you for your details.
I’ve been asked to provide further information. What type of documents do you need?
If we couldn’t identify you automatically, we’ll send you an email asking you for a copy of your photo identification (ID).
We will need:
A driver’s licence issued by any Australian state or territory
OR
A passport (Australian or foreign)
Please make sure:
Your document is in date
The photograph of your document shows the whole document with all four corners visible, and is clear, not blurred
For driver’s licences, we will need to see both sides
If you can’t provide either of these documents, please contact us to see if we can check your identity another way.
Sometimes we might also need some additional documents - we will email you if we need these. The email will have a secure link for you to upload the documents, or you can use these links:
