There’s nothing we love more at WorldRemit than to celebrate inspirational people – people dedicated to their calling and the right causes. The Zimbabwe Achievers Awards (Z.A.A.), which we proudly sponsor, is the perfect platform with which to honour such individuals.

It was founded by Conrad Mwanza in 2010 and acknowledges and rewards the contribution of Zimbabweans in the diaspora – rising talents, artists, organisations and entrepreneurs.

The idea behind ZimAchievers event is simple, yet important – to recognise the value each of the nominees brings to their community. In an award evening, we honour Zimbabweans who are truly dedicated to achieving things that will make their country proud.

Let's meet the winners!

Z.A.A. gala nights take place in the United Kingdom, South Africa, Australia and the United States. Conrad Mwanza shared with us some of the winners from the most recent event in the United States.

Stephen Mutizwa

Winner of male entrepreneur of the year

Majoring in Radiological Sciences in Dallas, Stephen’s passion for business led him to launch an award-winning Medical Mobile Diagnostic business providing radiology services.
Pastor Chaka Ngwenya

Co-winner of the music artist of the year

Former radio presenter and now gospel singer is passionate about making music and sharing it with people for a good cause. He donated the money he raised for his music albums to orphanages in Zimbabwe.

Marvellous Mhlanga-Nyahuye

Media personality of the year

International broadcaster and a radio host of LiveTalk-Women’s RoundTable, Marvelous encouraged Zimbabwean government to start a repatriation process of human trafficking after she exposed the situation.
The important events she’s covered include the Africa Leaders’ Summit hosted by Barack Obama, the Mandela Young Africa Leaders’ Summit and a protest of Zimbabweans against Robert Mugabe.
Women of Dominion

Community organisation of the year

The mission of this organisation is to spiritually and socially empower women. Its projects involve fundraising to support children in remote rural areas of Zimbabwe, as well as grandparents raising their grandchildren whose parents died of HIV/AIDS. It also supports people living with albinism.

Philip Bamu

Professional of the year

Published author, CEO of PBC International, LLC and Chairman of IIB Development group, Philip was awarded for his impressive entrepreneurial career and for his active part in ZIE affairs. He has served on a number of boards such as Air Zimbabwe, UZ Council or and UZ African Languages Research Institute.
Portia Kandemiri

People’s choice award

Ever since Portia moved to the US in 2004 she has become an integral member of the community through her genuine love for others. She is actively involved with the community and lends a hand to whoever is in need. Her doors are open for all, and once you visit her, it is hard to leave.

Simba Usore

Personality of the year

Simba works passionately to unite the Zimbabwean community in Atlanta. He has worked with leading figures from various political parties and leaders of civic organizations focused on Zimbabwean development. He serves on the board of Deacons in Forward In Faith (Atlanta).
Rhoda Cassandra Sibanda

Community Champion

Rhoda is Volunteer and Community Director for the Zimbabwe community in Washington. And as co-founder of Southern African Community USA (SACU), She’s actively involved in numerous charities and community groups such as Love Sisters Christian Group, Women of Dominion International, Christian Fellowship International and Cassandra’s Kitchen.

The party goes on

This year’s celebrations within the Zimbabwean diaspora aren’t over yet. The Australian Zimbabwe Achievers will take place on Saturday, November 24th. in the Melbourne Marriott Hotel.
