Fiona is the first hurricane to directly hit the Dominican Republic since Jeanne left severe damage in September 2004, Fiona caused severe floods, cutting off villages, forcing about 12,500 from their homes and leaving 709,000 without power.
Mark Lenhard, Zepz Group CEO said: “Millions of people rely on remittances, and they prove especially vital in moments of crisis. This is why we are waiving fees to support those in the Dominican Republic as they recover in Hurricane Fiona’s aftermath. We are doubling down our efforts to ensure that people are able to support loved ones during this time of crisis with ease and a sense of security, so their communities can focus on rebuilding their futures.”
