21/10/2022 | 1 minute read
WorldRemit, a leading digital remittance platform, is waiving their fees on money transfers from the United States to El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua, and Honduras in the wake of Hurricane Julia. Customers wishing to send money to people in those countries in support of relief efforts can do so with no service fee applicable from October 21-28, 2022.
Hurricane Julia made landfall in Central America a week ago, leaving unquantifiable damage and at least 30 fatalities in its path, impacting hundreds of thousands in El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua and Honduras.
Mark Lenhard, Zepz Group CEO said: “Millions of people rely on remittances, and they prove especially vital in moments of crisis. Therefore we are waiving fees to support those in the region as they recover in Hurricane Julia’s aftermath. We are doubling down our efforts to ensure that people can support loved ones during this time of crisis with ease and a sense of security, so their communities can focus on rebuilding their futures.”
With the WorldRemit app or website, customers can send support to their family and friends in El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Nicaragua, and Honduras free of charge from the United States. Details on how to send money can be accessed here.
