WorldRemit launches digital money transfers to all bank accounts in Congo-Brazzaville

9/4/2019 | 3 minute read

London and Brazzaville, 9 April 2019: Leading digital money transfer service WorldRemit continues its rapid expansion in Africa, launching low-cost bank transfers to all banks in Congo-Brazzaville.

WorldRemit customers living in over 50 countries can now send money directly from their phones to any bank account in the country.

The new bank transfer service joins WorldRemit’s existing cash pickup service in Congo-Brazzaville. The company has over 30 cash pickup locations in the country, from Ouesso to Pointe-Noire, enabling recipients without a bank account (approximately 75% of the population) to receive money from abroad.

WorldRemit’s digital model saves customers time and money as they do not have to visit a money transfer agent to send money home. Bank transfers are deposited in 2 days, while transfers sent for cash pickup are instant.

Andrew Stewart, Managing Director for Middle East and Africa at WorldRemit, said: “We offer a wide variety of convenient ways to receive money including bank transfer, cash pickup and airtime top-up. As a result, our money transfer service is accessible and convenient for recipients in Congo-Brazzaville, regardless of whether they have a bank account. We also offer notifications to both senders and recipients when the money has been sent and received for complete peace of mind.”
