WorldRemit expands money transfer service from the Netherlands, reaches 250,000 user milestone

30/11/2022 | 2 minute read

WorldRemit, a leading digital cross-border payments company, today announced it is expanding its range of money transfer services from the Netherlands.

WorldRemit provides customers in the Netherlands low pricing for transfers and offers a wide range of convenient payout methods for recipients, including bank deposits, payments to mobile wallets, cash pick-up and mobile airtime top-up.

Antoine Bocchino, Head of Europe at WorldRemit, said: “The Netherlands is among the top ten countries in the world for sending money to loved ones overseas. With this service expansion, our aim is to disrupt the remittances and traditional money transfers space in the region with low fees, the most flexibility for recipient payout options, and the highest level of customer care availability. We’re committed to delivering a service that truly meets remittance customers’ needs in the Netherlands.”

Having initially launched its services in the Netherlands in 2021, WorldRemit currently has over 250,000 customers using its services in the country. Collectively, these users sent more than €125M from the Netherlands in 2021. Users can now send money to over 100 countries across all continents, and WorldRemit forecasts that Dutch users will send more than €100M to the African continent alone in 2022. Customers sending to Morocco can quickly get cash to loved ones via Cash Plus and those sending to Indonesia can safely transfer to most banks, major mobile wallets and even cash at popular bank and agent locations.

Migrants make a significant contribution to the Dutch economy and support their loved ones by sending substantial amounts of money transfers back home. According to World Bank data, the Netherlands conducts 50% more remittances than the UK and more than 100% compared to Canada.

Over 25% of the Dutch population are 1st or 2nd generation migrants. In addition, every year another 250k immigrants enter the Netherlands, of which 30% come from Africa and/or Asia.

The WorldRemit service is available to customers in the Netherlands using the WorldRemit app, available for download via Apple App Store and Google Play Store, or through its web platform.

Licensed as an Authorised Electronic Payments Institution by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in the UK, as well as the National Bank of Belgium (NBB), WorldRemit operates under strict international regulatory frameworks to meet the highest security and privacy standards for its customers.
