You can send to Hormuud EVC, Premier Wallet, and Golis Sahal mobile money accounts.

The mobile money account must be (1) fully registered and (2) active.

What is the maximum amount per transaction I can send to mobile wallets?

You can send up to 500 USD per transaction to EVC+, $1000 USD to Sahal, $5000 to Premier Wallet and $5000 to any bank account in Somalia. You can send multiple transactions a day.


What information do I need from my recipient to send mobile money to Somalia?

  • Full name. Please enter your recipient’s full name. To avoid any delays, the recipient’s name should match the name registered on their mobile money account.

  • Address. We need your recipient’s city.

  • Mobile money account number:

    • Fully registered and active Hormuud EVC, Premier Wallet and Golis Sahal mobile money accounts only.

    • Length: 9 digits in total (excluding country code).

      • Hormuud EVC mobile money numbers begin with 61 and 68. Golis Sahal mobile money numbers begin with 90.

  • Contact mobile number. We ask for a contact number in case we need to provide any important updates. This can be different from the mobile money account number.

  • Sending reason. Please indicate whether it is “family or friend support,” “purchase of services,” “property payment,” or “sending funds to self”.

Please ensure that all your recipient’s details are correct. Once you make your transfer, it is difficult for us to amend or stop the transfer, although we will always try our best to do so.

What fees does my recipient pay in Somalia?

WorldRemit does not charge your recipient any additional fees for the mobile money transfer.

However, some local operators may charge them a fee when they withdraw funds as cash. This depends on the mobile operator’s policy and is not determined by WorldRemit.

Do I need to fill out forms when I send a lot of money to Somalia?

We are a licensed company in the US, UK, Europe and many other countries. This means we must abide by the laws from which you are sending money from. You can expect that we will follow any necessary steps to abide by the rules and keep your information safe.


What happens when the name of the recipient or phone number is not correct?

You will be notified with an explanation of why your transaction failed and our team will give you the opportunity to make the relevant change and we will resend the transfer. If necessary, the transfer will be cancelled and you will be refunded. 


Can I use my business account/debit card to send money to pay for business expenses?

No you can only use your personal debit card, credit card or Apple pay to pay for a transfer. We do not accept business cards.
