What is WorldRemit?

WorldRemit is an international money transfer service that allows senders to send cash to countries across the world (including Kenya) in a fast, affordable, safe and easy way to use.

With WorldRemit, one can send money to over 130 countries worldwide from over 50 countries.

How do I access the service?

You need to have registered on Airtel Money. Then all you need to do is wait to receive money from abroad.

How much will I be charged for receiving money from abroad?

There are no charges for receiving Airtel Money through WorldRemit. However, all other Airtel Money charges apply when you use the funds e.g. withdraw, send money, pay bills or Lipa na Airtel Money.

How does the sender send money to a Kenyan number from abroad?

1. Select Kenya from the country drop-down list

2. Enter the amount you want to send – fees and exchange rate will be shown. 

3. Select Mobile Money as the delivery method

4. Choose Airtel Money as the 'Mobile Money Partner' You will be directed to another page to:

5. Login or Create an account if you don’t already have one (you will be asked for you address, email, phone number.

6. Enter your recipient’s details – choose from a list of people you have already sent to, or add a new person by entering their details: name, address and mobile phone number.

How do I know if the money has been received?

You will receive a notification from Airtel Money confirming the status of the transaction. 

In what currency will the money be received to the recipient in Kenya?

The funds will be received as Kenyan Shillings (Ksh)
