La Poste and WorldRemit launch new instant money transfer service to Senegal

Number of WorldRemit money transfers to Senegal double in past year as service expands

Dakar and London, 6th March 2018: Leading digital money transfer service WorldRemit has partnered with La Poste in Senegal. The new deal allows customers in 50 countries to send instant money transfers to 250 cash pickup locations across Senegal,  using the WorldRemit app or website.

The partnership builds on WorldRemit’s rapid expansion in the country- with the number of money transfers handled by the company more than doubling in the past year.  The company’s convenient mobile-first, digital model side has proved popular with the Senegalese migrants in countries like Canada, France and the UK.

La Poste has served the people of Senegal for over a hundred years and has an excellent network of post offices across the country, in both rural and urban areas. The partnership marks a significant moment for La Poste who are increasingly focusing on bringing digital innovation to Senegal.

With over half a million Senegalese emigrants working around the world, the World Bank estimates that in 2017 over $2.3 billion dollars was received in remittances - an important source of income for the country’s economy.
