Where can my recipient collect the funds in Jamaica?

You can select from one of the following collection network options when creating a transfer:

When will funds be available to collect in Jamaica?

Usually within a few minutes.  We may sometimes require further information from you before we can process the transfer in order to comply with our regulatory requirements. We will email you if this is the case.

What currencies can I send for cash pickups in Jamaica?

Jamaican Dollar (JMD) only.

How much can I send for cash pickups in Jamaica?

The maximum amount (per transfer) which you can send depends on the chosen network. Please see below for more info:

Branches of JMMB Money Transfer:

  • This depends on your send country and desired payment method

Branches of Victoria Mutual:

  • A maximum of JMD 600,000 per transfer

There may be lower limits depending on the country where you are sending from and the payment method used to fund the transfer. Please see the relevant section in Payments for more info.

What information do I need from my recipient to send cash pickups to Jamaica?

  • Full name. Please enter your recipient’s full legal name. It must match their valid, government-issued photo ID for them to successfully collect their funds.

  • Full Address. Please enter your recipient’s full address. It must match the address on their government-issued photo ID for them to successfully collect their funds.

  • Sending reason. Please indicate whether it is “family or friend support,” “purchase of services,” “property payment,” or “sending funds to self”.

  • Mobile number. We use this to send an SMS notification to your recipient with the transaction number, informing them that their funds are ready to be collected.

  • Email (optional). We use this to email your recipient with details of the transaction. This is particularly useful in case they have issues receiving the SMS notifications.

Please ensure that all your recipient’s details are correct. Once you make your transaction, it is difficult for us to amend or stop the transfer, although we will always try our best to do so.

What should my recipient show when collecting funds in Jamaica?

Branches of JMMB Money Transfer:

  1. Valid photo ID. This must be a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a passport, driver’s license, or Jamaican National ID.

    • For amounts over JMD 200,000 the recipient needs to provide 2 types of ID or 1 ID and 1 proof of address.

  2. Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN)

  3. Sender’s name and amount to receive in JMD

  4. Quote the 14-digit transaction reference number starting with “RC”. We will notify you and your recipient by email and SMS when funds are ready to be collected and send a transaction reference number. Please quote this when collecting the funds.

Branches of Victoria Mutual:

  1. Valid photo ID. This must be a valid government-issued photo ID, such as a passport or driver’s license.

  2. Taxpayer Registration Number (TRN)

  3. Quote the 8-digit transaction reference number. We will notify you and your recipient by email and SMS when funds are ready to be collected and send a transaction reference number. Please quote this when collecting the funds.
