About the Role

The WorldRemit Corporate IT team sits at the heart of the organisation and is critical to ensure continuing evolution of our infrastructure enabling the Technology team to facilitate the design and execution of product features and capabilities – both to better serve our customers and to stay on the forefront of innovation. 

We are a part of the Technology Team at WorldRemit which is (currently) a 160-strong organisation, which includes software engineering, information security, corporate IT and our cloud platform infrastructure.

The role reports directly to the UK IT Manager and is based at our London HQ office.  Given the significant growth of the company over the last year, this position is aimed at supporting and executing improvements to the internal IT infrastructure and to assist the UK IT Manager in managing and improving operational IT functions for the global organisation.  

The role will form a critical part of the Global IT Infrastructure Team – it will cover a number of responsibilities (key skills outlined below) and will require someone with proven experience in supporting and running projects designed to add functionality and stability to a global IT infrastructure, in line with business requirements. We are in the process of automating basic processes, allowing the members to focus on more value-added activities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring that the global network including WAN, LAN, VPN and Wi-Fi systems are available and resilient.
  • Understand current best practices and be able to ensure that these are followed.
  • Being able to identify improvements to the existing infrastructure, and then working with the UK IT Manager, third parties and stakeholders ensure that project is successfully delivered.
  • Ensure that the global infrastructure is correctly managed and patched
  • Mentor other team members to help build their knowledge and skill levels.
  • Ensure that the global infrastructure is fully documented, and this is kept updated to reflect any changes.
  • Plan and deliver projects across the local and remote sites, ensuring effective communications during the process, as required. These projects could be related to networking, servers, desktops (PC, Mac and Chromebox), or the implementation and integration of new applications in our core product set.
  • Work effectively as a member of the Global Infrastructure team, also supporting colleagues in the Service Desk on a regular basis.
  • Negotiate with third party suppliers where necessary to ensure the cost effective implementation of new products and services.

Summary of required experience & attributes

  • Significant experience of SSO implementation and administration is essential (i.e. Okta, OneLogin, Centrify) 
  • Significant experience of Jira, Slack, Keeper, Okta, GSuite.
  • Significant experience of Gmail and G Suite administration and fault finding.
  • Experience of implementing automated processes in the helpdesk environment.
  • Experience in TCP/IP stacks applied to LAN/WAN environment.
  • Windows Server 2012 (And newer) administration skills.
  • Experience of Mimecast administration and mail routing protocols.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Azure
  • Experience of VMware and virtualization.
  • Scripting (PowerShell) and automation of sys-admin tasks.
  • Cisco technologies and IOS (ASA/Firepower firewall, Catalyst switches/stack, VPNs).
  • Exposure to security probes and concepts of environments hardening.
  • Office 365 administrative tasks.
  • Technical documentation.
  • Focus on infrastructure availability and redundancy.
  • Exposure to and administration of Chromeboxes or Chromebooks
