About us

WorldRemit - if the media's to be believed, we're the FinTech start-up taking the world by storm - scooping-up awards and more than $140m in funding.  Ok... all that is true. But we're so much more. WorldRemit is changing the way people send money to family and friends. We're leading an online revolution and laying to rest old-fashioned money transfers.

The WorldRemit Office in Kraków is currently growing and we are looking for a Data Warehouse (DWH) Architect/Developer to join our Engineering Team.

What you’ll be working on:

You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team responsible for the support and improvement of the Data Lake, the Data Warehouse, data ingestion pipelines, and reporting platforms. The Data Team manages their own AWS infrastructure and uses mainly AWS cloud technologies (EC2, S3, Redshift, Spectrum, Athena, etc) , also Hadoop (Kafka, Hive, etc) and Reporting Platforms (Tableau, PowerBI). The Data Team is also responsible for the maintenance and expansion of the new Data Warehouse (hourly refreshes, Redshift+Spectrum).

You will be very comfortable with all Data Warehouse related areas, from designing the data structures to guiding the implementation. You will have hands-on experience supporting and developing ETL, and you will have very good data warehouse designing skills. As the new data warehouse is still in its very early stage (still very much greenfield), you will be very hands-on and very knowledgeable on how to expand it without jeopardizing performance and usability.

What we’re looking for:

  • Understanding of architectural and modelling concepts for Data Warehouses, should be able to guide a team on modelling; Data modelling experience (Normalization, Star Schema, Data Vault, etc.)
  • Understanding of full project life cycle for implementing Operational Data Stores and Data Warehouses.
  • Strong SQL development skills to performance tune existing code, and write new functionality to best practice (ideally with Redshift).
  • Strong Python development skills.
  • Previous experience developing ETL for large implementations (SQL, SSIS, OWB, etc)
  • Experience in Report Development (Tableau, PowerBI)
  • Able to work in a critical environment where rapid response to outages is required
