The WorldRemit Office in Kraków is currently growing and we are looking for a Scrum Master to join our Engineering Team.

Our Scrum master will be:

  • Highly Engaged – You will work closely with teams and their stakeholders to demonstrate a deep level of commitment to the success of your team(s) and their continual improvement
  • A Guide – You must be able to ensure Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to, whilst not being an enforcer of process
  • In Service – Naturally gravitate towards a servant leader approach of service towards your team(s) and your stakeholders
  • Self-Managing – Seek goals and feedback, but be able to direct your own work and team(s) journey towards agility in a positive direction
  • Transparent – displaying openness and transparency in all you do
  • A Teacher – You will be experienced in guiding and teaching and have significant experience in doing both for a mix of team-types as well as a mix of varying levels of stakeholder
  • A Learner – Someone who loves to learn and is constantly seeking new learning experiences
  • A Systemic Thinker – You will be aware of the goals of the organization and how your team(s) are expected to contribute to those goals; whilst having an appreciation of the interconnected dependencies both up/down-stream from your team(s)
  • An Innovator – Never satisfied with how things are, you will always be looking for ways to bring innovation to working practices
  • Enthusiastic – You will display and invoke high-levels of energy whilst performing your service
  • Fun – Bring a level of playfulness to your approach and encourage others to do the same
  • A Social Engineer – Improving group dynamics within all of the groups you interface with to enhance communication and build trust
  • A Mentor – You will display a natural tendency to lift others up providing mentorship in both official and unofficial capacities

What you will know:

  • You will have a deep knowledge and experience of Scrum and the subtleties of the process and have a clear understanding of the “Why” of Scrum as well as the “What” and “How” of Scrum (and Agile practices in general)
  • You will have a deep understanding of flow and the application and inspection of the metrics which will support improvements to flow
  • You will be able to introduce good practices around backlog management, including story writing, requirements breakdown, story-splitting, story-mapping and be able to talk knowledgeably about the requirements life-cycle
  • You will have an appreciation of ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pairing, Automated Testing
  • You will have an appreciation of the basic technical architecture of an enterprise organization, and a typical software development life-cycle when supporting engineering teams
  • You will have had experience of solving the problems with delivery and cultural dynamics within a number of environments and contexts (i.e. different sized organizations, co-located/distributed teams, new product development, legacy product maintenance)
  • You will be able to demonstrate the application of other practices which enhance agility but do not fall within the Scrum framework

What you will do:

  • Build an environment of openness in and around the team(s) you work with
  • Create a culture and environment where problems can be discussed in an open, transparent non-judgmental way, without fear of blame or retribution, leading towards positive outcomes
  • Be a strong facilitator of not only the various Scrum events, but have strong facilitation and mediation skills in general
  • Be able to lead those you work with towards self-organization and ownership of their process
  • Help the team(s) you work with to only make promises they can keep, and then to help them to focus and keep those promises
  • You will have a deep understanding of behavior and team dynamics to allow you to navigate, mediate and resolve conflict in and around the team
