What type of Indian bank accounts can you send money to?
You can send money to checking/current, savings and business accounts with all the major banks in India. Funds will usually be credited to personal accounts on the same day and business accounts within 1-2 working days. We will notify you by SMS and email when the funds have been credited. Indian regulations mean that we cannot process transfers to charitable foundations, religious organisations or trusts of any kind.
What is the maximum amount you can send to India with WorldRemit?
- Bank Transfer – There’s a maximum limit of 1,500,000 Indian rupees (INR) for transfers to business accounts in India. The limit for personal accounts depends on the country you make the transfer from and your chosen payment method. You’ll be told if your transfer amount exceeds the limit when you enter it into our calculator.
- Airtime Top-Up – You’ll be presented with a range of top-up amounts for that operator when you enter a valid mobile phone number. Pay for the top-up online and the mobile recharge will be made within minutes.

Is money transferred to India taxable?
