Who we’re searching for...

You will be a member of the Global FX team within the wider Treasury & Finance division of WorldRemit. The role holder will be responsible for developing and managing the firm's FX activities, opportunities and exposures in African markets. The role will be split roughly 50/50 in terms of trading & execution and business development.

this role is open to the following locations, London, Johannesburg, Accra, Nairobi, Lagos

Typical Responsibilities

The role holder’s main responsibilities will be:

Business Performance

• Build out and development of the African markets FX business
• Trading African FX markets in line with the firms agreed strategies (Spot, Forward, NDF, Swap products)
• Working extensively with commercial, network & finance partners to drive existing and new business opportunities
• Developing and maintaining relationships with banks and liquidity providers to ensure competitive FX pricing within the region
• Regular travel within Africa to develop ‘onshore’ commercial relationships
• Work with cash management to develop enhanced funding strategies for the business in line with the global model
• Working with pricing teams to ensure optimised rates across APAC corridors
• Develop the region to become a significant contributor to the Global Treasury PnL
• Responsible for reporting Africa FX / Treasury exposures and risk management KPIs

Risks

• Ensuring that FX / Treasury risks are managed effectively in the region
• Responsible for monitoring market risk limits & daily settlement limits (VAR)
• Responsible as the first contact point to resolve liquidity partner issues
• of funding / credit facilities with banks / partners

Projects

• Contribution to cross-division and cross-functional FX projects to deliver at pace EMS, TMS, Algo execution strats, OMS, pricing APIs.

Process

• Accurate execution and confirmation of FX trades on behalf of WR
• Maintaining a close relationship with Treasury operations and Treasury back office through regular interactions to ensure seamless operational processing of FX deals
• Ensuring implementation of EMS / TMS  in the region and driving forward on the utilization of full system capabilities
• Redesigning FX / Treasury processes with a focus on efficient and effective processes with minimal manual intervention
• Create & deliver FX content for commercial presentations
• Build and document FX / commercial opportunities to senior mgmt..
• Enhance the control environment by maintaining technical documentation of desk processes
• Enhance the control environment by further automating processes within the Treasury Front office environment

Summary of required experience & attributes

• Significant experience in FX or global financial markets businesses
• Strong business development & negotiation skills / experience
• Strong understanding of African local FX markets & regulatory environments / conventions
• Understanding and or experience of cross border payments
• Experience of eFX and pricing / risk management systems
• Analytical and logical approach to problem solving.
• Proven competitive drive to achieve results
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to build effective working relationships at all levels
• Ability to communicate complex information effectively
