Breon Corcoran, Chief Executive Officer
Formerly CEO of Paddy Power Betfair plc, in 2016 Breon Corcoran led the merger of Betfair and Paddy Power to form one of the world’s largest online gaming companies.
Prior to this, Breon was the CEO at Betfair until 2016 and COO of Paddy Power until 2011. In the 1990s, Breon was a Vice-President, Equity Derivative Trading, at J.P Morgan and has also worked at Bankers Trust.
He has a BA (Mathematics) from Trinity College, Dublin and an MBA from INSEAD. In 2016, Breon was awarded the UK’s Sunday Times’ ‘Business Leader of the Year’ award. He is currently a non-executive director at the wealth management company, Tilney Group.
Mary Barnes, Chief of Staff
Mary is responsible for the business support function at WorldRemit, in this role she leads cross functional teams on strategic initiatives.
Prior to joining WorldRemit, Mary worked at Paddy Power Betfair and Just Eat where she supported the CEOs. Mary spent more than ten years at Xchanging, a business process outsourcing company, supporting managing directors, board members and working on client projects specialising in project management and communications. After that Mary ran her own outsourcing business providing flexible concierge and support services to individuals and small businesses.
Andras Mecser, Group Chief Financial Officer
Andras Mecser is responsible for all WorldRemit’s financial functions including financial controlling, statutory reporting, planning and budgeting, treasury and liquidity management, and corporate finance.
Prior to joining WorldRemit, Andras served as CFO at Ebury. He previously held senior strategy and portfolio manager roles at Centrica PLC, as well as a senior manager role at McKinsey & Company, serving financial institutions, private equity clients and their portfolio companies.
Andras holds an MBA from London Business School, an MA in Financial Investments and Risk Management from Corvinus University of Budapest, and an MA in International Management – CEMS Programme.
Sophie Krishnan, Chief Operations Officer
Sophie is responsible for WorldRemit’s growth and operations. Her teams make sure we are all working on what matters most for our customers, for making it easy and secure to send money abroad, for supporting customers if they have a problem and for identifying the most critical areas to grow the business.
Sophie has worked in senior operational management roles at consumer tech companies like Expedia and Trainline in Europe. She previously spent over a decade in investment and strategic advisory at Investor AB and Bain & Co, both in the US and in Europe.
She holds an MBA from Stanford business school.
Stephen Lovell, Chief Product Officer
Stephen Lovell is responsible for defining the WorldRemit product roadmap and delivering innovative, fast and effective ways for our customers to manage their money wherever they are in the world.
Stephen has worked across a number of industries to solve user problems through technology, reinventing conventional approaches to product and service design. These include gambling, banking, eCommerce and healthcare and Insurance.
Prior to joining WorldRemit Stephen led Product and Technology at BIMA and held senior digital and technology roles at Open Banking, RB and Paddy Power.
Stephen holds a Bachelor of Science in Managerial and Business Administration from Aston Business School and a Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
Mark Watson, Chief Technology Officer
As Chief Technology Officer for WorldRemit, Mark leads the company’s technology team in developing and running world class technology.
Mark has over 30 years’ experience in large companies and start-ups, several of which he co-founded and built from scratch. After working at IBM and Tivoli Systems, he co-founded Volantis Systems, an early pioneer of mobile Internet content delivery platforms. He served as the CTO and CEO there, until the company’s acquisition in 2011. In 2012 he took up the role of VP Engineering at Causata Inc., an innovative platform providing automated customer insights based on machine-learning and Big Data. In 2013, Causata was acquired by NICE Systems and Mark went on to co-found Skipjaq, a company which applies machine learning techniques to the field of cloud-based system performance and cost optimisation.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from the University of Nottingham.
Tamer El-Emary, Chief Commercial Officer
Tamer heads up WorldRemit’s commercial and business development teams, and is responsible for driving global growth and strategic alliance activity.
A seasoned global business development executive, Tamer has more than 20 years of experience delivering accelerated growth and increased revenue performance; most recently as SVP & Group Head at MasterCard and prior to that in various leadership roles at American Express.
Tamer holds a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law, a Master’s degree from the Fletcher School of Law & Diplomacy and a Bachelor of Arts in History and International Relations from Tufts.
Adriana Marques, Managing Director, Europe and Global Network
Adriana Marques is responsible for growing WorldRemit’s business in the European region as well as driving the expansion of the network globally by integrating new pay out partners, and launching money transfer services in new geographies.
Adriana has over 20 years of experience in leading and developing teams, having previously held senior strategy and business development roles at Sodexo and American Express. Prior to joining WorldRemit in October 2017, Adriana served as Head of Merchant and VAS at Samsung launching Samsung Pay in the UK. Adriana holds an MBA from London Business School and a BA in Economics from Universidade Estadual de Campinas, Brazil.
Daniel Canning, Managing Director for North America
Daniel is responsible for leading WorldRemit’s North America commercial activity and driving customer growth in the region.
A seasoned product and marketing executive, Daniel has more than 20 years’ experience in the financial services and payments industries, most recently as CEO, Diaspora for Digicel. Prior to that, he held various leadership roles at Western Union, including Vice President of US Money Transfer, where he spearheaded the omni-channel strategy for the company’s largest business.
Daniel holds a B.S. in Hotel Administration from Cornell University and an MBA in International Business from the Darla Moore School of Business.
Andrew Stewart, Managing Director for Middle East & Africa
Andrew is responsible for expanding WorldRemit’s business in the Middle East and Africa through customer growth, product evolution and building relationships with partners across the regions.
Previously a Senior Executive at American Express, Andrew brings to the company over 18 years’ experience in accelerating business growth in the financial services and payments industry. He holds in-depth knowledge of payment innovation, business expansion, change management and delivering growth initiatives.
Andrew has a Bachelor of Technology (Honours) in Marketing & Business Management from the Port Elizabeth Technikon in South Africa.
Scott Eddington, MD, APAC
Scott is responsible for growing WorldRemit’s mobile payments service and for the development of WorldRemit’s send and receive network in the APAC region.
Prior to joining WorldRemit, Scott was responsible for digital strategy at Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Scott has over ten years of international expertise in a variety of roles working for McKinsey and Company and Linklaters LLP based in London, Japan and Singapore.
Scott holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney.
Martin Cook, General Counsel
Martin is responsible for WorldRemit’s global legal activities and policies, regulatory affairs, company secretariat, risk management and internal audit.
Prior to joining WorldRemit, Martin was Global Head of Legal and Regulatory Affairs at Funding Circle and is a founding member of the FinTech Delivery Panel - an industry body appointed by HM Treasury and working with Tech Nation - which helps fintech companies to scale up and become global leaders in their field.
Martin started his career in practice at Slaughter and May working in TMT and IP, before taking senior in-house roles focussed on technology, innovation and fintech.
